In my Self Portrait I expressed a pattern of texture for my background. Something that is obvious in my work is that I kept the dark space in my face instead of carving it out like some of the other art pieces. First, I started my art piece with just carving out my shirt and the pattern of triangle shapes for my background. But, when I got started I added more texture in my jacket and then some balloons scattered in the background. I inspired my artwork off the last piece of art I made, which was my zine, and how I did that was adding a couple of the textures from that piece in my carving. I didn't express anything about in this piece. My goals as an artist would be to take my time and carefully go step by step in the process. Although, in this piece I was absent and had to rush and finish, then I accidentally cut where I didn't want to and messed up a bit. So, in my next art project I will try my best to meet my goals. I learned how to create a linocut. Also, I learned to practice on my goals during my art work.
